Week 2 of the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP‑AC) Live Webinar Series focuses on Neurological and Toxicologic Issues and Disorders, providing pediatric acute care NPs and NP students with a deep dive into neurologic conditions and toxicologic emergencies seen in hospital, ED, and ICU settings. This live online session is part of an eight‑week evening webinar series designed to build exam‑ready knowledge for the PNP‑AC certification exam while delivering practical, real‑world clinical guidance from expert faculty.

Participants earn 2.75 contact hours and 1.25 hours of pharmacology for attending Week 2, contributing to both certification preparation and recertification CE requirements. The webinar is presented live over Zoom, with opportunities to ask questions in real time and engage with the content through case‑based examples and exam‑style scenarios.
The neurological portion of Week 2 examines acute and chronic pediatric neurologic conditions, including trauma, seizures, hypotonia, and encephalopathy. Clinicians review identification and management strategies for complex disorders such as cerebral palsy and neurofibromatosis, focusing on thorough neurologic assessment, recognition of red‑flag findings, and evidence‑based treatment approaches. The session emphasizes how neurologic presentations may overlap with other acute care issues, and how to prioritize stabilization, imaging, and consultation in fast‑moving clinical environments.
The toxicologic portion of Week 2 explores common pediatric toxic exposures and toxidromes, including caustic household products, cardiac medications, psychotropic drugs, and other agents frequently encountered in pediatric practice. Faculty review detailed clinical assessments for specific toxicologic scenarios, highlighting early signs, progression of symptoms, and laboratory and diagnostic findings that guide management. Recommended antidotes and supportive care strategies are discussed, along with principles for decontamination, monitoring, and preventing complications. By integrating neurologic and toxicologic content, Week 2 helps pediatric acute care nurse practitioners build confident, systematic approaches to caring for children with complex neurologic presentations and poisoning emergencies.
Week 2 can be attended as a stand‑alone webinar for targeted learning in neurologic and toxicologic pediatrics, or as part of the complete eight‑week PNP‑AC Live Webinar Series, which covers primary care foundations, respiratory and shock states, cardiovascular disorders and sedation, infectious diseases and fluid/electrolyte management, oncologic and hematologic conditions, endocrine and maltreatment concerns, and trauma and burn injuries.
