Description:
This webinar focuses on the evaluation and treatment of hip luxations in dogs and cats, emphasizing early reduction techniques and surgical decision-making.
Webinar Description:
Traumatic hip luxations are a frequent orthopedic problem in companion animals. Whenever feasible, joint reduction is favored over salvage procedures like femoral head and neck excision or total hip replacement. Closed reduction often provides acceptable outcomes when performed promptly. In cases where stability cannot be achieved, open surgical reduction may be required. This lecture will provide an overview of treatment strategies and expected outcomes.
Webinar Agenda:
The diagnosis and management of traumatic coxofemoral luxations in dogs and cats
Etiology and pathogenesis of traumatic coxofemoral luxation
Expected physical examination findings
Radiographic abnormalities
Methods of closed reduction and possible coaptation
Open surgical reduction and salvage procedures
